Again, you can translate this sentence but I would suggest do not ask a westerner, “Are you full,” as it will make you a weirdo to this person, unless you are a doctor. This westerner may think, “Whatta you my mother? Full or not is my business.” Refer to Mayflower’s answer which is very good.

But, if you mean Taiwanese way of saying hi (this is another hilarious subject), you can always say, “Hi, how’s it going,” or “How are you doing?”

Sometimes Westerners want to learn about other cultures too. I often think English is a tool for international communications, not just a tool for us to learn the cultures of a few English speaking countries. Think about how many Indians speak English! They don’t necessarily follow Western cultures. They can still use English to describe their own life styles and cultures. Be ready and proud to talk about your own cultures in English.

Exactly. But sometime we have to be cautious about some expressions going beyond culture-interchange and becoming rude.

Nevertheless, this “Are you full” as a GREETING is quite interesting. Although people living in Taipei do not say it anymore, at least my friends don’t, in the countryside they still say “吃飽了嗎 (假霸未)” as a greeting phrase. Once one of my buyers asked me how Taiwanese greet each other, I said some say “Have you eaten,” and not just eaten, literally, “Are you full?” He laughed his head off. The next morning when I went to pick him up again, he greeted me, “Have you eaten, are you full?”

I spent another 10 minutes explaining when to say, "Are you full?"

所以我的問題都比較偏向中文的表達方式，我自己翻英文也會逐字翻譯，雖然可能不道地啦。但基本上應該是可以溝通的，只要不要太離譜的。像中文"他可不是省油的燈。"這我就不會逐字翻了，這就真的要請教各位了(我會再去開個討論)。

我所要問的「吃飽了嗎」並不是一般的寒喧/招呼語，而是真的要問「吃飽了嗎」。例如跟朋友去餐廳吃飯、或去夜市吃小吃，就會問說「你吃飽了嗎？」意思是如果沒吃飽的話可以多吃ㄧ點，可以在去吃點別的。請問要怎麼說? 謝謝

"Have you had enough?"
"Do you want to eat something else?"(已經飽了或是不想再吃了自然會說No)

題外話。我上次回台灣時經過一家「三商巧福」，雖然我已經吃飽飯了(已經有點撐了)，但是因為「懷舊」我還是進去了，本來要點牛肉麵的，但是看到以前沒看過的「蒲燒鰻魚飯」(應該是這名稱)就給它點下去了...

早上我的roommate煎了一大堆pancakes，因為太多了我吃不完，所以吃完後我就先離開餐桌，過一會他來問我"Are you filled?"，意思是「你吃(很)飽了嗎？」，因為他想知道如果我還吃得下的話那麼他會要求我把剩下的幾片給吃光。我回答他"Yes, I'm filled"，然後他回說那麼他就把那幾片留著，等會還可以吃。

Have you eaten yet?
I'm full, but not stuffed.
