引文: Kaori 寫道:
159. Fishing permits are normally issued to for only one season and for a limited number of fish.

(A) Fishing permits
(B) issued to
(C) season
(D) limited number

Hi Kaori,

I am trying to rewrite the original sentence (in order to point out the trap / trick).
Fishing permits are normally issued for only one season and for a limited number of fish.

If the sentence was written as following,
Fishing permits are normally issued to one season and for a limited number of fish.
==> We can see the fatal error "issued to" in above sentence, it is supposed to be "issued for" + "period of time"; or, "issued to" people who are restricted to fish for only one season.

Thank you,

hmm, i don't know...

no.156 for me is easily to understand that it should be "looked at" 。

looked at here means they were looking at hundreds of documents but didn't know what to do, where to start. before (until)they found what they were looking for, it does make senses to me.

在我們發現我們要正在尋找的東西之前我們看著成堆的文件。也許比較好的答案並不是look at ,但是這樣並沒有錯。

but no.159, i totally have no idea. " issued to "發給,配給。 跟此段與意不合的確是錯的,但是不知道為什麼會是"issued for"。會不會是issued而已,for只是剛好接到後面下文?issued在這裡指發布、發行比較合理。

Thank you, learnang.
You are really my good English teacher. :)

I pay much attention to grammar but am still weak on using authentic English, expressing in a real English way.
I try at my best to avoid any mistakes on grammar, but fail to express like a native speaker of English.
I am curious how you achieve it? It seems to take me a long long time to do it..... I wonder if there is some day I can achieve it..../____\

"issued for" + "period of time"; or, "issued to" people who are restricted to fish for only one season.

I know that. My doubt is if "Fishing permits are normally issued for for only one season and for a limited number of fish" is right? I am not sure why it uses "for" twice?

As to Q. 159, there is nothing wrong with two for’s as there is no rule limiting the number of prepositions a sentence can use; use as many as you like if you do not care about boring the readers.

but no.159, i totally have no idea. " issued to "發給,配給。 跟此段與意不合的確是錯的,但是不知道為什麼會是"issued for"。會不會是issued而已,for只是剛好接到後面下文?

I have the same question as charlize.

May I say "You confirm my doubts?"

That is correct. That repeated "for" is a typo.

Fishing permits are normally issued / for only one season / and / for a limited number of fish
