Humm..... I really don’t know how to relate trading to gambling. But about gambling, hey, I have something to say. Believing in what are predicted in The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal is like gambling. Yes, I “played” stocks.

Anyway, may you succeed in what ever you are doing.

It's funny how my friends and I just talk about gambling and investing earlier this week.

I'm very conservative about my money, unlike all of my buddies who could sit in the casino for hours and just blow away everything they got and walk out empty pocket. I've been trying to save up and hopefully get into investing sooner or later. But before that, what would you recommand for a starter like me to get it rolling?

I talked to my parents and I've opened an account on Ameritrade, which is not doing anything for me at the moment because I still haven't figure out how exactly stock market works nor have I done any research on any particular company. Let alone things like mutual fund, bonds, and the whole nine yards.

Right now I have nothing but time. When I go out to sea, my money isn't going anywhere but growing molds in the bank since I have absolutely no debts. Given my situation above, with all due and respect, would you please point me the right direction to the rich and wealthy, as an investment expert such as yourself?

P.S. I do have CDs the aka lazyman investment, but the interest is pathetically low. Also thrift savings plan, but as far as I know that's a retirement plan.

I found most people have hard time to distinguish the difference between trading and gambling. I, for one had hard time distinguish the difference clearly as both involve capital input, odd, risk, and payout… You can read my blog on this topic at http://www.luckyspeculator.com/post/1/7

Thanks, DTC. Now I get the idea. It seems you are laboring yourself to create a thriving business. Life is so beautiful when you are working hard to achieve your dreams, it is more beautiful if you are not doing it for yourself but for your family.

J4c, judging from your not wasting your money, you are very wise on investment. You are still young, gradually you will get to know every tool, and I have no doubt you will be wealthy in the future.

hemmm... not sure how you get that idea but I am afraid you have got the wrong idea about the LuckySpeculator.com... just think of it as an online reality show about a guy who went to the market with $25,000 on the journey to try to make 1 million in return or lose all of the $25,000 in the process of trying .

LuckySpeculator.com is just a show that I hope will be educational and fun and that $25,000 initial capital, is really merely a marketing cost for LuckySpeculator.com...

So, for you to really get the idea of what I am trying to do with LuckySpeculator.com (I don't know why you want to but if you are really interested), you just need to think and evaluate this idea: what will DTC get out of all this and why is he blowing away 25,000 for?

so, here you are, relating not wasting his money on "gambling" is a very wise "investment"...

assume if we know the probability and knowing the odds is 5:1 in j4c favor on a blackjack table, then not going to excises this odd on a table would be unforgivable, it would not be wise at all... agree?

so, my real question to you is: you are the first one who I met that can't related trading to gambling. How? Could you share your perspective and viewpoint?

Some quick answers (and I apologize):

1. When I said, “Now I get the idea,” I meant I had already read your blog and had realized the difference between trading and gambling, sort of.

2. (It’s been a long time since I did my last homework.) 25,000 and 1 million, the ratio is 1: 4, the odds is unknown. I know why you do it. You do it because you can. No, I am kidding.

Please bear with me, I have never run a website before and I do not know how to make it lucrative. But I definitely will visit LuckySpeculator on a regular basis. You pointed out a very good point and I want to make sure j4c sees it too!

j4c, please make sure you don't do what I do in www.LuckySpeculator.com! Birdman is right, for people who is not well versed in trading, market is a dangerous place to be! However, read my blog and post question about things you don't understand. It's the goal of www.LuckySpeculator.com to help like you and me understand better about the Exchanges and trading!
