Nah, in the US. I haven't been able to find it in any form in Taiwan, so far.

The only difference is "wearing the costume to school" is the tradition for kids in the primary school and kindergarten. The funny thing is that most of the little girls in kindergarten or first and 2nd grades will dress like a princess whereas the fourth and fifth graders will dress like witches, wizards or scary monsters. :)

Kids love trick-or-treating and to count the candy they have earned. I don't really like to take the kids for door-to-door trick-or-treating; I just take them to the mall because there are lots of stores and they give out candy, too. Besides, it only takes about an hour and the kids can get lots of candy; but we have to be there at the right time, if we are too late, then we can only see the sign "No More Candy" in front of the store. What a disappointment!

Yukkies? I guess you haven't told her "this is pig's blood, and this is duck's blood" yet.

昨晚，我聽老婆說，今年的中秋烤肉盛會將移師到她哥哥開的中古車行的空地舉辦，我也相當期待哩~~~

對不住啦，講到美食，話閘子就關不了，大家多多包涵~~~
老婆比我更喜歡美食(自封『府城小吃皇后』)，我對海鮮比較挑剔，發現美食是夫妻倆的共同樂趣與感動。『黑鮪魚肚』(東港)、『河豚生魚片』(墾丁)、『刺鮭(河豚)米粉』(墾丁)、『海膽』、『大閘蟹』、『生鮑魚』、『生蠔』、『透抽(類似小卷)生魚片』(澎湖搭漁船夜釣)…台南在地小吃就不多說了，夜晚到黃金海岸享受海風清拂，聽海浪，喝咖啡(行動咖啡車)，有時去鄰近的興達漁港、布袋漁港走走，台灣真的很美~~~，相信世界上有許多地方也是如此。

我想起在美唸書時的趣事，通常我也會自行開伙，話說某晚約10點多，我到住家附近的超市買菜，心想最近功課忙，得好好補補身子，也比較沒空時常出來買菜，所以我就一口氣多買些『腰子』(美國比台灣便宜好幾倍)、『豬腳』、外加一顆『牛心』……
結帳時，我注意到該名黑人店員不大敢正眼看我，大概是有點嚇傻了(該不會碰上食人族了吧)~~~

Is it really? Wow... Things are so different in Taiwan now....

When I frist got here, I really wanted to see people wearing custumes on Holloween, so I picked one Holloween night and took the T (nickname for our subway system) to downtown Boston. I thought I'd see people all over the place wearing custumes, you know, like those seen on movies. To my surprise, there weren't many people on the street, and all I saw was three or four people wearing custumes (possilby heading to a party).

It remained a mystery (where were all the people?) for years until I talked to a coworker about this. She said, "We are at the mall! Nowadays it's not safe to let our kids walk to a stranger's door and ask for candies!"
