Dear Readers

The following is an excerpt from AskChi’s article in the forum, the link of which is attached hereto.

QUOTE

AskChi wrote:

... or even the fun-to-read stuff in the forum titled 'FUN WITH WORDS' written by Viceroy here on ECT. Read them carefully and find out how these writers organize as well as support their points...

UNQUOTE

I am flattered by AskChi’s honorable mention and have this to say.

His treatise is a joy to read. It is, without doubt, an excellent ‘genre’ exhibiting a set of comprehensive instructions and delineating pertinent pointers in the most professional manner for language enthusiasts to digest. It is indeed very informative and is a thorough manifestation of a systematic procedural introduction to learning.

English language is not my major. I do not write to impress or teach, but to exchange and share views, as well as to gain knowledge from responses. Good examples of which are articles written by various respondents on thoughts and discourses of culture, tradition, religious teachings, economics, securities and other topics.

I write with the purpose to delight, and am not in for endorsement for it would be a craven desire. I guess I write without sentimentality and technique as evidenced by the lack of perceptiveness, mistakes and unintentional deviations. My attempts are merely for readers to understand what I had intended, and as such, I do not compare myself with the discovery of great and generous prose.

ECT is like a big family. Where there is exultant happiness, knowledge and experience, we rejoice and share. Where there is unhappiness or depression, weep if we must.

AskChi, thank you once again for your kind words.

Cheers all.

You are such as man~

most of the time, American people didn't followed the standard English. but they say this most of the time to emphasize the person has guts.

幾個可能說法:

They are 2 dollars each.

They are xxx dollars in total.

It's 2 dollars each

It's xxx dollars in total.

each
....

WORD CHOICE
each, every
It is often correct to use either 'each' or 'every', but they have slightly different meanings.

Use 'each' when you are thinking about the people or things in a group separately, one by one

....

Use 'every' when you are thinking about the whole group of people or things together, with no exceptions

.....

(還有很多)
