有時後會員會挑其他人貼的文裡頭的錯誤,有時是有利會員的"挑錯"然後提供正確或是較正確的答案,有時則是惡意挑別人文裡所說的話裡頭的小毛病,要如何區分?我引述 Ruke 在一篇調解糾紛的文裡所說的話:

引文:

I have to say it's right that a minor error should be bearable. If this small error lies in an unremarkable position of someone's text in a post, I don't think it hurts, because making mistakes is quite a natural and normal phenomenon. But here "Something is available with us" is placed in a remarkable position, intended for teaching members how to use the word "available". Yeah, for the sake of kindness or even peace, it's better we do not "pick on" that minor error. But what if we leave it alone? The result is that members here would be misled into learning incorrect usage about "available". You know that's the last thing we'd like to see in such a website where English teaching is one of the important components.

換句話說,如果這錯誤是屬於重點解說部份,那麼能挑出來是最好,免得誤導讀者。若是這錯誤是在一些較不起眼的部份,比如非重點的解說或是會員之間聊天等等,除非對方允許或是要求,那麼一直挑錯是會惹人厭的。

IMHO:

For the beginners, bear in mind that “To err is human.” None of the posts in the forums is proofread by a person other than the writer. Native speakers of English make mistakes too, and believe me it ain’t rare, let alone we as ESL learners. When a member find an idiom/expression/phrase/word useful, it is this member’s own duty to verify it before digesting it. This is how your English is improved.

For those who have a good command of grammar, pay more attention to the points, the knowledge a post contains, not the errors. Ask yourself, can you write a better post? I have seen too many members whose writing is grammatically flawless but full of redundancies and awkward expressions. Worst of all, I find their posts as tasteless and colorless as a glass of water; watching paint dry is more interesting than reading their posts. Grammar is not synonymous with knowledge. Time to move on to the next level.
