引文:

1,The tie doesn't ____this suit while the coat ____you well
A,go with ;suits B. go with ;fits
C.fits ; go with D.fit; suits

Go with和suit都是指很搭配(如style或color)。

2.John F.kennedy was elected____President of USA when he was in___ forties .
A,the,;the B, /;his C,a; the D./;the

B. in the forties 指在40年代,in his forties 指在他40幾歲的時候。
"…elected President of USA…"和"…elected the President of USA…"
但google時 "elected President of the USA"比"elected the President of the USA"多很多(約10: 1),所以"elected President of the USA"應該沒錯。

3.This kind of colour TV set___ well .By the end of this month all the colour TV set will have been___.
A. is sold ; sold out B,sells; sold out.

4._____I used to go mountain-climbling every summer.
A,At the time ; B,At one time

B. At the time表示以前某一段(個)特定的時間。

at the time 在當時 at one time 一度[有一段時間] (不必是一次)
我也認為用 at one time較好

1. A
go with = match 用於物對物.

2. B
President(大寫時)前面不可加the.
president(小寫時)前面必須加the.
in his forties 在他四十多歲時. = in his age of forties
in the forties不適合本句語意.

3. B
been sold out: 看到been, 後面只能接sold啦.

4. A
at one time不適合此句, at one time通常為兩件事的副詞片語.
1) at one time = at a time 一起;合併的
2) at one time = at the same time 同時.

I lived in Taiwan back in 1995-2003. At the time I used to go mountain-climbling every summer.

Oxford American Dictionary:
• (also times) a more or less definite portion of time in history or characterized by particular events or circumstances : Victorian times | at the time of Galileo | the park is beautiful at this time of year.

at one time
in or during a known but unspecified past period :

she was a nurse at one time.

====

at a time
separately in the specified groups or numbers :

he took the stairs two at a time.

====

at the same time
1 simultaneously; at once.
2 nevertheless (used to introduce a fact that should be taken into account) :

I can't really explain it, but at the same time I'm not convinced.

I am afraid they are incorrect.

Below are expressions from Oxford and Longman Dictionaries.

Oxford:
the President of the United States

Longman:
the President of France

But, to tell the truth, I dunno what the exact rules are. It should be that, both "with the" and "without the" can be used, I think

Using "Google Scholar" search, we get the following results.
Please note the quotation mark is needed.

"elected President of the USA" --> 18 hits
"elected the President of the USA" --> 0 hits

We know the writings in "Google Scholar" search are relatively formal. In those relatively formal writings, "the" is not seen in such a sentence pattern.
So whether "the" should be used seems like nothing to do with being formal or not.

Could anyone give some comments? DJ and Peter, what do you think of this? Thanks!

I'd mentally go through it first, that's how I weed out any wachiness in sentence structures. Try not to google your way to the truth because the entries all were written for different situations staged in different times, ect. If I were to say this, I'd say it this way: John Kennedy was elected President of the USA. I don't know why, but "John Kennedy was elected the President of the USA" sounds fishy and unnecessary. But if you said the latter, I'd have no trouble understanding you. Oh, yeah, the first letter of "President" should always be the upper "P" no matter what.

He was elected President of the USA.

He is the president/President of the USA.

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen is the Father of the ROC.
