Finding your way around in English/在英語國家中找你要到的路 (中英對照 精華文章)

你是否曾經在旅遊時迷路過呢?如果你還沒有找到旅館你的假期將會為這不好的開始而結束!但是如果你學會這些有用的片語你將會輕易詢問方向和在英語國家城市當中找到你自己的路。

不論你正在說什麼,說話的第一句總是"Excuse me"或是"Could you help me?"。理由是你的詢問將會由於你的感謝而變得很有禮貌對你也會有幫助!

"Could you tell me how to get to _____?"是最標準的問路方式,像博物館,旅館,或是街道。

如果你沒有找一個明確的地方,而只需要找一個鄰近的銀行,地鐵站,洗手間,等等,最好的片語表示就像是"Where is the closest_____?"

人們最常說明東西在哪裡是用'blocks'來描述。block是在兩個十字路口的所夾的街道上。所以'the
next block'
意思是下一個十字路口的街道上。當three blocks
ahead
意思是站在原來的街道上然後再穿越過下面三個十字路口。

其表示路還有多遠才到達的片語像是'the
third right'
或是 'the next left'。如果有人說"Take the third street
on the left"
是指你應該要過了2個十字路口到第3個路口左轉。

有多種方式可以告訴別人是否要右轉或是左轉。'Take a left''go left''turn left''make a left'上面的意思都一樣:向左轉。 "Go around the corner"意思是在下一條巷子轉彎但是不需要穿越道路。

其他說明方向的方式有建築物或是標地物來表示。"It's just past the bank"意思是如果你經過銀行,你所要找的地方就是在下面幾個建築物裡的某一個了。'Opposite''across from',和 facing它們的意思都是一樣的-相同的街道,但是是在不同邊。

Have you ever gotten lost while traveling? Your holiday will be off to a bad start if you can't even find your hotel! But if you learn these useful phrases you'll be able to ask directions and find your way around any English speaking city.

Whatever you're asking, it's always best to open with a phrase like "Excuse me" or "Could you help me?". The person you're asking will appreciate the courtesy and often be more helpful!

"Could you tell me how to get to _____?" is the standard way to ask how to get to a specific place, like a museum, hotel, or street.

If you're not looking for a specific place, but just need to find a nearby bank, subway stop, bathroom, and so on, then it's best to use a phrase like "Where is the closest_____?"

One of the most common ways people explain where things are is using the term 'blocks'. A block is the section of street between two intersections. So 'the next block' means the section of street after the next intersection, while three blocks ahead means to stay on the same street and keep going past the next three intersections.

Another way of saying how far to go is to use phrases like 'the third right' or 'the next left'. So if someone says "Take the third street on the left" it means you should walk past two intersections and then turn left at the third one.

There are several different ways to tell someone to make a right or left turn. 'Take a left', 'go left', 'turn left' and 'make a left' all mean the same thing: turn left. "Go around the corner" means turn at the next street without crossing it.

Other directions refer to other buildings or landmarks. "It's just past the bank" means if you go past the bank, the place you're looking for will be one of the next few buildings. 'Opposite', 'across from', and facing all mean the same thing - on the same street, but on the other side.
